Job Title: Senior HR Assistant

Key Responsibilities: Under the direct supervision of the Senior Human Resources Officer, provide full range of HR functions for employees.

Provide expert and official liaison with the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) and the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) on all matters relating to accreditation, privileges and immunities, work permits, visas and diplomatic related protocols.

Regularly liaise with incoming USDHs, Resident Hires, Summer Hires and TDYers regarding check-in documents and other onboarding requirements, send all relevant documents to other departments and agencies as required.

Liaise with each office and agency to ensure accurate capture and recording of personnel position and travel status, as well as timekeepers and travel section regarding arrangements for employees in their sections

Recruitment (full 360), induction, selection as well as employee onboarding and offboarding.

Assistance of the executive, protocol, and public diplomacy offices with VVIP visits and events.

Mission�s position management (both the U.S. and local positions), ICASS workload counts and sections budgets allocation and control, update staffing and maintain reports and statics.

Provide broad and highly specialized expert procedural advise related to various U.S. Department programs, employee benefits, policies relating to conduct and procedures of administration of such. E.g., rest and recuperation, change of duty of station, allowances, leave, training.

Drafting and processing of approvals of consul general�s exequaturs in all mission consulates including processing of Ambassador�s agrem�nt.

New mission and personnel policy drafting, development and implementation as well as review of existing ones.

Liaison with different section heads for policy reviews and developments as well as publishing.

Training and development program coordination and support. CCMA cases � liaising with the Legal office in Washington D.C and drafting communication

Liaising with Labour Department personnel for compliance, registration of employees on UIF, COIDA system.

Maintenance of knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

Provide regional HR support to other mission posts Lesotho, Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban Consulates, Lesotho and Eswatini Embassies.

Supervision of the American Services unit Locally employed and American staff.

Management of the evaluation and performance of both local and U.S employees and appraisals.

Offer specialized advice and guidance on HR management principles and US government, Embassy and South African regulations.

Campaign activations and new program launches, e.g. summer hire program, internships, etc.
